Trondheim is a modern, well planned city. Also known by its original name, Nidaros, Trondheim is the third largest city of Norway.

Trondheim is a commercial, industrial and shipping center, and it offers a variety of cultural and recreational activities.

Its celebrated cathedral, built in the 12th and 13th century, originally was a church erected over the tomb of Olaf II (St. Olaf). It later was ravaged by several fires.
