An idyllic setting, the Canary Islands are blessed with a preferred climate and constant temperature through the year, as well as splendid beaches of fine sand. The landscape of the 7 larger islands and several smaller ones is radically different from one island to another. The Greeks and Romans referred to this archipelago as the Happy Islands. Politically and administratively, they are part of Spain and yet culturally and geographically they very much have a personality of their own.
