Marathon lies smack-dab in the middle of the Florida Keys. The second biggest settlement on these coral-spined islands, Marathon ends at the foot of the majestic Seven-Mile Bridge.
Marathon is full of people who have found sanctuary from former lives. Bartenders speak in muted tones about wasted years in suit-and-tie jobs while fishermen discuss the workaday drudgery they endured somewhere "up north." They live on boats, like characters in Jimmy Buffett songs. They haven't had an urgent thought since they moved here.
