Thomas Alva Edison once said, "There's only one Fort Myers, and 90 million people are going to find out about it."
Having become a resident of Fort Myers in 1914, the inventor of the light bulb (among other things) was worried that the world would beat a path to his new hometown.
Not to worry. The "City of Palms" isn't yet overrun, though it has grown up quite a bit since Edison made his nervous pronouncement.
