"Smörgåsbord" may be the best known word from Sweden to have entered international usage over the years. It’s an apt word to describe the country, too. From the untamed Arctic in the north to the urban cultures of Stockholm and Göteburg (GOTH-en-burg) in the south.
Sweden is as far north as Canada’s Northwest Territories and portions of Siberia. As a result, its summer days are filled with almost uninterrupted daylight. The northernmost region of the country doesn’t see nightfall at all from the end of May through the middle of July.
